Unshakable Faith Stands When Opposition Comes

Opposition can make you wonder whether staying faithful is worth the cost. Daniel shows me that faith does not have to move just because people come against you, circumstances get harder, or obedience puts you in a difficult place. You can stand firm and keep trusting God.

What is unshakable faith when you are under pressure?

Unshakable faith is faith that stays grounded in God when trouble, persecution, and opposition come. I said it plainly in this message: things are going to come up, things are going to happen, but the question is whether you will let go of God when they do.

Daniel had been taken from Jerusalem into Babylon, and he never returned home. His surroundings changed. His name was changed. He spent years in captivity. But through it all, Daniel remained faithful, and he kept praying to his God.

That is what I want you to see. Faithfulness is not proven only when everything is easy. Daniel kept serving God in a place he did not choose and under pressure he could not control. His faith was not moved by what was happening around him.

Why did people oppose Daniel even though he did nothing wrong?

Daniel was opposed because his faithfulness and promotion stirred jealousy in the people around him. Daniel 6:5 says, “We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.”

They looked for something wrong in Daniel and could not find it. He was faithful. There was no error or fault found in him. So they decided the only way to get him was to use his devotion to God against him.

Let me tell you something: everybody is not going to celebrate you. Daniel did not promote himself. He was simply being faithful, doing what he was supposed to do, and serving his God. Yet people still came against him.

That is why you cannot base your faith on whether people approve of you. If you are doing right and opposition still comes, do not let that shake you. Daniel did not allow jealousy, accusations, or a plot against him to change who he was.

How did Daniel respond when his faith was challenged?

Daniel responded by continuing to pray exactly as he had before. Daniel 6:11 says, “Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.”

The decree had been signed. Daniel knew about it. He knew the consequence was the lions’ den. But when it was time to pray, he prayed.

He did not let the law stop him. He did not let the king stop him. He did not let jealousy stop him. He kept doing faithfully what he had always done.

Will God find you faithful when pressure comes? That is something to think about. Daniel did not suddenly start praying because he was in trouble. Prayer was already part of his life. When opposition came, he stayed consistent.

Can faith stay strong when the situation looks impossible?

Yes, faith can stay strong even when you cannot see how the situation will turn around. Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den, and the people who opposed him expected that to be the end of his story.

But they did not know who was on Daniel’s side. The king came early in the morning asking whether the God Daniel served continually had been able to deliver him. Daniel answered that God had sent an angel and shut the lions’ mouths.

Then Daniel 6:23 says, “So Daniel was taken up out of the den and no manner of hurt was found upon him because he believed in his God.”

Mark that down. Daniel believed in his God. He did not doubt. He stood firm, and God brought him through a situation that looked impossible.

I do not know what you are facing, but I know what Daniel teaches us: do not let trouble move you away from God. Hold on with both hands. Keep praying. Keep believing. Opposition may come, but your faith does not have to be shaken.
